  • Replaced a complex WireGuard/BGP setup with Tailscale, implementing a scalable and efficient mesh VPN solution for site-to-site connectivity.
  • Simplified end-user VPN configuration by replacing manual WireGuard setups with Tailscale's automated device enrollment, reducing setup time and improving user experience.

Modernizing On-Prem AD Infrastructure

  • Migrated the environment from Windows Small Business Server 2011 to Windows Server 2019, modernizing Active Directory to meet current standards.
  • Transitioned the AD forest level to Windows Server 2016, reorganizing Organizational Units (OUs) and security groups for streamlined management and compliance.
  • Deployed multiple Domain Controllers (2 per location) across all Kentucky sites to ensure failover redundancy and improve reliability.
  • Implemented Azure AD/Entra Sync to enable hybrid identity management, enhancing integration with cloud services and improving user authentication across platforms.

Manage Engine AD360 Suite Implementation

  • AD Manager Plus: Automated group moves and account provisioning using custom templates based on user titles. This ensured new hires received all necessary access on day one and allowed our help desk to securely interact with Active Directory without overexposure.
  • AD Self Service Plus: Deployed self-service password resets and integrated conditional MFA prompts based on user roles and access requirements, significantly reducing IT overhead and enhancing security.
  • AD Audit Plus: Developed a comprehensive auditing system that monitors logon activities, account lockouts, file changes, and configuration modifications. This proactive monitoring helped in early threat detection and ensured compliance.
  • M365 Manager Plus: Customized reporting and bulk management for Microsoft 365, streamlining tasks such as user, group, and license management while improving overall operational oversight.

Manage Engine Service Desk Plus ITSM

  • Implemented Service Desk Plus to centralize IT service management, covering ticketing, change management, projects, problem resolution, and inventory control.

Home Lab

  • pfSense: Repurposed an old WatchGuard security appliance by installing and configuring pfSense, transforming it into a robust home firewall solution. Utilized HAProxy for reverse proxy management to enable secure access to self-hosted services.
  • Proxmox: Currently using Proxmox as my hypervisor. I frequently switch between virtualization solutions to learn migration paths and explore platform-specific features. Previously used VMware for enterprise-like workloads.
